Thanks to its ideal location between the SLC International Airport and downtown Salt Lake City, the Power District and Westside are the front door to Utah and the gateway to Utah’s capital city. This area is poised for a generational investment to elevate the surrounding neighborhood’s strong community and culture.

The Power District is an approximately 100-acre, shovel-ready site in the heart of Salt Lake City’s Westside, bordered by the Jordan River and featuring views of the downtown skyline and the towering Wasatch Mountains. It is readily accessible from I-80, I-215, I-15 and TRAX light rail. It’s a unique private/public partnership that demonstrates Utah’s readiness for MLB expansion now – a unique position among cities vying for consideration.

Utah is the nation’s fastest-growing state and number one economy. It is ideally positioned at the Crossroads of the West and is also the most family-friendly state, with a strong focus on quality of life. The state has a history of hosting world-class sporting events and a legacy of professional team ownership. And Utah’s experienced ownership-ready group is led by the Miller family and the LHM Company.

The Power District is an approximately 100-acre site in the heart of Salt Lake City’s Westside. In addition to the ballpark, the planned development will include retail, residential, commercial and entertainment venues providing a 365-day experience with year-round activation and programming. The Power District will bring affordable housing options and employment opportunities to the area. Phase 1 is well underway and includes the state-of-the-art 10-story, 300,000 sq. ft. corporate campus for Rocky Mountain Power.

Creating economic development around the stadium district allows investment in the State Fairpark infrastructure. This in turn elevates Fairpark’s purpose, helping to support its mission and its ability to host the annual State Fair along with a year-round calendar of events. The emergence of the Power District strengthens the State Fairpark as a self-sustaining state asset and catalyst for community investment.

In conjunction with the Jordan River Planning Commission, the Power District proposes to elevate the health of the Jordan River by modeling water-use development and improving safety, as well as providing recreation and maintenance solutions. Investment from the Power District will uplift this signature natural asset, turning it into a gem all Utahns can be proud of and positioning Salt Lake as a River City.

The plan for the Power District seeks to support families, deliver amenities that reflect local culture, create positive awareness and strengthen connection to the rest of the city. It also aims to stimulate equitable investment in the Westside neighborhood and extend commercial and recreational activity, weaving the area into the greater fabric of downtown Salt Lake City.

Revitalizing the river and reactivating this part of the city will naturally result in a place that’s not only safe for families but vibrantly enjoyable for everyone. Project leaders will keep residents informed on construction plans, impact to roadways and access, as well as timelines for phased development.

Private investment and support have made it possible to begin planning and construction on the improvements to Westside — including the Power District, State Fairpark and Jordan River parcels — right away. MLB has not put a timeline on team expansion, but the shovel-ready nature of the site at the Power District will enable ballpark construction to begin immediately, as needed.
